Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown's second free update is out now, and it comes with a new boss rush mode that unlocks some pretty cool cosmetics.
As fans on the game's subreddit pointed out, finishing the mode on any difficulty earns you an outfit ripped right from the slept-on 2008 reboot (which, if you haven't played, is available on Steam and Xbox).
It's not the first reference to the 2008 reboot, either. When the game launched in January earlier this year, fans quickly noticed Fariba humming the main theme of the now 16-year-old game. Parrying even has the same exact sound effect--put it all together with the outfit and it's like we're back in the '00s.
Boss Rush is exactly what you'd expect. You fight eight bosses in a row without replenishing health or potions. If you can conquer the gauntlet, you'll earn the 2008 reboot skin, but there's another cosmetic for only the most skilled players.
If you can beat every boss without taking a single hit, you'll get a skin for Sargon which strips him down to his underwear.
But if Boss Rush isn't your thing, the update also adds a Boss Revenge mode, which allows you to rematch opponents you fought in the story individually.
You can pick any difficulty when facing them (including No Hit) and earn a medal (bronze, silver, or gold) depending on how fast you take them down.
Lastly, you can now fast travel from one Wak-Wak tree to another without using the designated altars if you purchase the new ability from the Magi Emporium.
Prince of Persia; The Lost Crown is a 2D platformer from Ubisoft Montpellier. Using his combat skills and time powers, the Prince must explore the mysteries of Persia and Mount Qaf, battling a range of enemies along the way.
