There’s been a handful of Pinball games over the last decade or so, and the fantastic Zen Studios is back with a new era of Pinball FX, released today.
With a bumper smashing 86 tables available at launch, you can grab Pinball FX for free with the Wild West Rampage table. You’ll also be able to test out every other table with a trial mode.
There’s also a new option of a Pinball pass, which for $14.99 a month will give full access to 70 of those 86 tables, if like me you prefer to avoid the ongoing cost of a monthly subscription for a single title, you’ll be able to purchased multipacks such as the Star Wars collection (10 tables), the Marvel Pinball Collection 1 (11 tables) the Universal Classics (3 tables) or Gearbox Pinball (3 tables) but you can expect to pay about £4/$5 per table. Sadly, existing players who might have spent extensively in the past, are going to find a clean slate, with no content they’ve purchased previously carried over or even available at a discount.
While you’ll have to pay for them all over again, returning tables from previous editions have been fully remastered in Unreal Engine, with ray-tracing-enhanced, 4K-HDR visuals, as well as upgraded Pro Physics. Not lacking in fresh downloadable content, Pinball FX also introduces three brand-new releases: Borderlands®: Vault Hunter Pinball, Brothers in Arms®: Win the War Pinball and The Addams Family (itself including never-before-seen enhanced play, as with all Williams classics).
At the same time, console players can get their hands on more than 15 tables for the first time which Pinball FX early access players have already been able to enjoy, such as Star Wars Pinball: The Mandalorian, World War Z Pinball, DreamWorks Pinball, five Zen
