A modern remake of Persona 3 is something that fans of Atlus’ role-playing franchise have been asking about for a long time, and finally, it’s almost here. Persona 3 Reload is due out in a little over two weeks, and in the lead-up to its launch, IGN has published a preview that showcases new gameplay footage from the RPG.
Tartarus, the dungeon that spans the entirety of Persona 3 and covers a significant portion of the game, has received some significant facelift, with its new look and style designed to reflect the game’s central theme of death, according to producer Ryota Niitsuma and director Takuya Yamaguchi. New elements within Tartarus, like crystalized Shadow energy stalagmites, Twilight Fragments, and hidden chests, are also showcased.
Plenty of combat can also be seen in the preview, putting Persona 3 Reload’s stylish battle UI on full display and offering glimpses of what All-Out Attacks and the new Theurgy mechanic are going to look like in action. Beyond that, gameplay footage is also shown for 3D environments in the city that players will be able to freely explore outside of Tartarus, while we also get to see a fair bit of the overhauled and redesigned dorm rooms, where you’ll be able to interact with fellow students, S.E.E.S. members, and more. Check out the video below.
Persona 3 Reload launches on February 2 for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, Xbox One, and PC. It will also be available via Game Pass at launch.
