While players can assign their Palworld Pals to work within their base, the game features several mechanics for keeping Pals happy and working hard. Palworld makes use of a hunger mechanic, requiring players to keep themselves, their party Pals, and Pals in their base fed to avoid getting sick. Pals working in a player's base also feature a «Sanity» mechanic, tasking players with constructing facilities like Hot Springs in order to keep Pals from becoming over-stressed. Pals working in a player's base typically develop the «Overfull» status due to high levels of stress, leading them to eat too much. The «Hungry» status, on the other hand, implies the Pal is not eating properly, whether due to bugs with the Pal reaching the food basket or a lack of food to eat.
