A former Sega employee has recently been teasing fans about a possible crossover between Sega and Capcom. Capcom is familiar with crossover games, such as Marvel vs. Capcom, SNK vs. Capcom, and even the controversial Street Fighter x Tekken. Capcom has even lent its properties to the strategy RPGs Project x Zone and its sequel, which were crossover games featuring Bandai Namco, Sega, and Capcom characters. It appears there may be another crossover between Sega and Capcom in the works, according to former Sega character designer Satoshi Okano.
Satoshi Okano is a former designer who worked on Sonic the Hedgehog games, such as Sonic Jam and Sonic Adventure. Okano would formally leave Sega in 2006, establishing his own studio and continuing to do character design work. Despite no longer working at Sega, Okano seems to be teasing fans about some sort of upcoming collaboration between Sega and Capcom.
Okano first posted a «secret message» on Twitter, where he asked everyone to enjoy playing Sonic the Hedgehog, Samba De Amigo, Street Fighter 6, and make a reservation (i.e. place a pre-order) for the upcoming Day One Xbox Game Pass game Kunitsu Gami: Path of the Goddesses. The first two games mentioned in his message were Sega properties and the latter two were Capcom IPs. He says he can't reveal the reason why yet, but it might be revealed in the future. In a follow-up tweet, he made a reference to the «Wait! Let him cook!» meme, including the #Capcom and #Sega hashtags in his post.
Fans immediately began speculating and responding to what Okano was teasing, as his statement was vague and yet still promised something that mentioned those specific titles. Most fans responded with Okano possibly teasing a Sega vs. Capcom crossover game (which he later denied), while others theorized it likely could be avatar cosmetic DLC for Street Fighter 6. Okano's coy responses to inquiries from fans only intensified the speculation, with the only consistent thing about his cryptic tweets
