Though some have criticized for having underdeveloped building mechanics, especially when compared to other open-world survival titles, it does have a fairly impressive suite of furniture and decoration cosmetics unlockable with Technology Points. Each of these furniture sets comes with a variety of different pieces to add to the decor. When combined with other structures that serve practical uses, it can create some pretty amazing themed bases.
One user named u/Prusyakish on Reddit took 's building potential to the max, combining the human-NPC capturing mechanic along with Viewing Cages and other structural elements to create a maximum security prison filled with Black Marketeer prisoners. The result is a fully-fledged society-like compound that resembles a thriving locale, similar to the likes of RPGs in other games, and is unlike the scarce villages with limited characters scattered throughout the islands.
Even though this compound would be poor for production, as human NPCs in are notoriously bad at actually working at the base, it does make for an interesting alternative option to building a base and opens a world of ideas on what is possible within the game world. While most games will have some sort of quest or friendship meter that needs to be filled to recruit people to the base, in, it's more than possible to just catch the people desired for a thriving new society.
Barring any modifications to, it's more than possible to replicate what the Reddit user did in their game. Notably, humans in can be caught, and though the Black Marketeer is one of the most formidable villains on the Palpagos Islands and will require at least a Hyper Sphere to catch, it's more than possible to lower his HP and capture him. The other element required is a Viewing Cage, which can be unlocked at Technology Level 15.
