India has been emerging as the global leader in the technological race, as the country has managed to gain massive interest from companies like Apple and NVIDIA. After making huge strides in the computing segment, India plans to take its chances on the AI hype, as the government announces plans to create a solid AI infrastructure through a vast capital injection of ₹10,300 Crore ($1.24 billion).

The Indian government hasn't disclosed the specifics of what they plan to do to capitalize on the AI hype, but The Register reports that the country is building a vast supercomputer under its "IndiaAI Compute Capacity" initiative. The supercomputer is expected to utilize 10,000 unnamed AI GPUs; however, if we could take guesses, it would be from none other than NVIDIA because Jensen Huang recently met with the Indian PM Narendra Modi, where it was said that Team Green secured a $500 million order for AI GPUs, which included NVIDIA's H100 and GH200 AI GPUs.
Moreover, India plans on ramping up R&D efforts, too, as the government announces a new academic institution, the "IndiaAI Innovation Centre," which is solely responsible for researching and developing new LLM models for leveraging edge computing.
