Fans of the monster-catching genre that have had their fill of Palworld and the latest Pokemon entries should keep an eye on the upcoming open world game Nexomon 3. The Nexomon series takes clear inspiration from the Pokemon franchise, with the first two games using a 2D art style reminiscent of old-school Pokemon titles.
Nexomon and Nexomon: Extinction task players with catching and raising a variety of Pokemon-like creatures. The games received somewhat mixed reviews from critics, but they have enjoyed a much more positive reception from fans. Steam users have given both games «Very Positive» overall ratings, and they have earned mostly positive reviews from users on consoles as well. Anyone needing a new Pokemon-like game to try out should certainly give them a try as they wait for more news on the ambitious Nexomon 3, which looks like it should appeal not just to Pokemon fans, but Palworld enthusiasts as well.
Whereas the previous Nexomon games have more in common with old-school Pokemon games from the Game Boy and Game Boy Advance eras, Nexomon 3 presents a 3D open world that looks more like something out of the Switch Pokemon games or even Palworld (from a visual standpoint — Nexomon 3 is not a survival game, to be clear). It's set to let players loose on the Aurelian continent, where they will be able to catch titular Nexomon, complete quests, and more.
Unfortunately, Nexomon 3 is currently without a release date at the time of this writing. It's also only been confirmed for Steam so far, but since the other Nexomon games made their way to consoles, one has to imagine that console versions are a distinct possibility. After the incredible success Palworld has enjoyed on Xbox, perhaps one of the console makers will step in to secure Nexomon 3 for their platform. There is clearly an appetite for Pokemon-like games with 3D graphics and open worlds, and Nexomon 3 fits the bill.
There are a still a lot of unanswered questions about Nexomon 3, but more information
