Persona 6 will still feature the typical high school setting seen in past entries in the series but will be much less linear, according to rumors circulating online.
Speaking on the ResetERA forums, Head on the Block, previously known as I'm a Hero Too, commented on the yet-to-be-revealed new entry in the series, saying that, while the game will retain the high school setting and social links mechanics, it will be a modernized semi-open world take on the what has been the series' formula since the third entry.
What this entails for Persona 6, the insider did not elaborate, but they did mention how social links will be more fluid, feature better interactivity, and have less time constraints. This sounds quite good, as the previous entries in the series require players to play in a certain way to complete every Social Link in a single playthrough.
While no official announcement has been made, it seems like ATLUS is working on multiple entries in the series alongside Persona 6. A Persona 2 remaster including both Innocent Sin and Eternal Punishment, and a Persona 4 remake are rumored to be in the works but are likely to be released after the sixth entry in the series.
The latest entry in the series is Persona 3 Reload, the remake of the third entry in the series. You can learn more about it in Chris' review.
