Throughout , cutscenes are used to further the story, allowing the plot to be conveyed clearly in beautiful cinematic scenes. Playing out like a movie, these scenes will deliver important information, move questlines along, and sometimes lead to romance. While these cutscenes can take place in many different locations, some of the most important will happen back at the party’s camp as the team beds down for the night.

To trigger many of them, the characters need to be spoken to on a regular basis to get them to open up and share their companion quests during conversation. While some cutscenes are particular to specific characters, the ones here are key as they add vital context to ’s overall story.
Very early in Act 1 the party will come across a boar that has been drained of all its blood. If Astarion is in the party when this happens, he will have something to say about it, cryptically mentioning vampires. However, at the next long rest, the player character will wake up, just in time to find Astarion about to take a bite out of them.
It turns out Astarion is a vampire spawn, and this is the beginning of his personal quest. This is also the starting point for anyone looking to romance the pale elf, as letting him drink will grant a decent amount of approval. The nighttime cutscene will pick back up in the morning as the rest of the companions discover Astarion’s true nature, which marks a turning point in him becoming more open.
When not playing as Wyll one key camp cutscene is the first time his patron is revealed. In a swirling mass of black, a cambion named Mizora will appear, greeting the party with a smirk. When she arrives, there are two possible scenes that can play out that depend on whether or not the party killed Karlach as requested.
