Developer Larian Studios has announced that Baldur's Gate 3 is now up for five more awards, continuing the game's stream of success into 2024. Baldur's Gate 3 dominated 2023's gaming awards after its release, taking home many of the awards it was nominated for, including The Game Awards' coveted Game of the Year.
Since the full release of Baldur's Gate 3 in August 2023, the game has gone on to experience both critical and commercial success. Most recently, Baldur's Gate 3 came away from AIAS's 37th DICE Awards as Game of the Year, with wins in four other categories as well. Larian Studios announced on Twitter that Baldur's Gate 3 has been nominated in five categories for Gayming Magazine's Gayming Awards 2024, which seeks to showcase and celebrate LGBTQ+ representation in gaming and other forms of geek culture. Baldur's Gate 3 finds itself up for yet another Game of the Year award, as well as the Authentic Representation Award and Gayming Magazine Reader's Award, with Larian Studios nominated for the Industry Diversity Award. The game then has two nominations for the Best LGBTQ Character Award for Dame Aylin and Shadowheart.
The Gayming Awards' recognition of Baldur's Gate 3 echoes the game's recent GLAAD Awards 2024 nomination for Outstanding Video Game. Baldur's Gate 3 has been commended for its LGBTQ+ representation by not only advocacy groups and award nods, but by players as well. The game's inclusive character creation features non-gendered body types and gives players the ability to choose what pronouns they can be referred to in the game. Players using any combination of body type and gender can pursue relationships with any of the Baldur's Gate 3 romanceable characters, providing players with a much less restrictive experience than many games have
