Hotfix #21 for Baldur's Gate 3 has arrived for PC and PS5 with yet more fixes for common issues players have found themselves experiencing lately. This update also restores a few quality-of-life features Baldur's Gate 3 players enjoyed that had been previously removed. The release of Hotfixes #20 and #21 for Xbox is delayed for the time being due to a bug causing the game to crash on the console.
Gaming for Baldur's Gate 3 players has certainly had its ups and downs since the release of Baldur's Gate 3 Patch 6 in mid-February. While Patch 6 introduced new animations and set the foundation for new as-yet-unvoiced dialogue for certain characters, it also brought with it some unpleasant side effects. Many Baldur's Gate 3 players began experiencing an uptick in performance and graphics issues with the game, ranging from mildly annoying to game-breaking.
Baldur's Gate 3 Hotfix #21 brings an end to the Enemy of Justice tag being incorrectly applied in certain conditions, meaning NPCs will allow progression through Mountain Pass, Créche Y'llek, the Shadow-Cursed Lands, and the Lower City to be (a little) less hostile. Minthara is again the star of many of the update's scripting fixes, as she was in Hotfix #20, with this update providing a solution for the game not recognizing her knockout as a defeat, thereby preventing completion of the goblin camp quest. Minthy will also no longer spoil Act 3 with her greeting earlier on in the game.
Hotfix #21 also sees the return of a few favorite quality-of-life features with regards to inventory management. Baldur's Gate 3 players will again be able to send items to companions' inventories via the Traveler's Chest or to a character back at camp. Traders' menus have again been tweaked, a continuing theme since the onslaught of trading issues brought on by Baldur's Gate 3 Patch 6.
While Xbox users will have to deal with some delay in order to enjoy Baldur's Gate 3 Hotfixes #20 and #21, they should by no means feel ignored. As Larian
