Earlier today, Ubisoft revealed it is not waiting for the recently announced Forward event (slated to air on June 10 live from Los Angeles) to show off Star Wars Outlaws again. The game in development at Massive Entertainment is getting a new world premiere story trailer next week, on Tuesday, April 9 at 9 AM Pacific Time/6 PM Central European Time.
The news will certainly fuel speculation that Star Wars Outlaws might launch sooner than expected. A couple of months ago, rumors hinted that Ubisoft was internally aiming for a May release date. On the one hand, it would make a lot of sense given that May 4 is Star Wars Day. On the other hand, it would be very unusual for such a big game not to get several months of heavy marketing.
Ubisoft also tends to release story trailers fairly close to their release dates. Assassin's Creed Valhalla got its trailer on September 29, and the game launched on November 10. The Far Cry 6 story trailer was released on August 26, 2021, and the game came out on October 7. Lastly, the Prince of Persia: Lost Crown story trailer debuted on December 8, 2023, around forty days before the launch date of January 18, 2024.
Even if that's not the case, Star Wars Outlaws may launch sooner than the Holiday season we previously believed. The game was recently rated in South Korea, Australia, and Brazil. With Assassin's Creed Red undoubtedly heading for a Fall window, Ubisoft may want to space a bit its two heavyweights in the calendar.
On PC, Star Wars Outlaws will support the full breadth of NVIDIA technologies: DLSS 3, RTX Direct Illumination, and Ray Traced Global Illumination.
Powered by Massive's renowned Snowdrop Engine, it will feature the first true open world Star Wars experience, allowing for a seamless transition between planets and space. The planets themselves will be fairly sizable but not massive, each comparable to two or three zones of Assassin's
