Some Kingdom Hearts fans are only just burdened with the knowledge of a creepy animation error from Kingdom Hearts 2's ending that shows Riku with an incredibly long thumb.
As anyone who grew up with the original Kingdom Hearts will tell you, Sora's adventures across Disney and Square Enix worlds are full of secrets to discover. Whether it's the hidden boss battles that are almost guaranteed to kill you in one go on your first try or all of the little details packed into worlds like Wonderland and Deep Jungle, there's a whole lot more to Kingdom Hearts than meets the eye.
As charming as most of these details are (mostly in the first Kingdom Hearts, let's be honest), not every secret in the series is a good one. No, I'm not talking about Birth by Sleep's undeniably annoying Mysterious Figure fight, I'm not-so-subtly hinting at the terror that is the animation error in Kingdom Hearts 2's ending.
If you've been on the wild ride that is Kingdom Hearts for some time now, then you almost definitely know what I'm on about here but, as evidenced by the reactions to this Twitter post from NipahDUBS, it seems to be news for some fans . In the final cutscene of Kingdom Hearts 2, Sora and Riku find themselves on Destiny Islands, which leads to a touching reunion with Donald, Goofy, Kairi, and Mickey.
While Donald and Goofy swarm Sora and you're reminded how scary it would be if Goofy was real, Riku picks up Mickey and swings him around with glee. Holding a child-sized mouse up in the air is scary enough, but the real horror comes when you take a closer look at Riku's thumb.
That's right, Riku's thumb apparently has some stretching powers we didn't know about, as it's showing some Mr Fantastic capabilities as it wraps around Mickey's waist. It's clearly just an animation error that's occurred due to Mickey's size and Square either missing it or hoping people wouldn't notice, but it's one of those things you can't unsee when you've spotted it.
