In , the player can either help or sacrifice the Nightsong, Dame Aylin, but sacrificing her will result in players getting the Spear of Evening. Sparing her is the best choice in most playthroughs, as this will help Shadowheart toward the light and reward the player with Selûne's Spear of Night. However, by sacrificing the Nightsong, you will instead earn Shar's Spear of Evening, one of the best weapons in the game. With Larian Studios working on a patch to bring new evil endings to the story, there isn't a better time to become the villain in.
To slay the Nightsong in Act II, you must complete The Gauntlet of Shar,located north of Moonrise Towers. The Nightsong can only be sacrificed by using the Spear of Night, which can be found alongside the Dark Justiciar Helmet and Half-Plate after solving the puzzle in the Silent Library. However, the necromancer Balthazar will not allow you access to Dame Aylin without a fight.
To build Shadowheart as a powerful Dark Justiciar, optimize her character abilities with the best multiclass, and locate effective weaponry and armor.
Upon reaching the end of the Gauntlet of Shar, the party will enter the realm of Shadowfell. Like the astral plane, you will be nearly weightless and must jump between floating rock formations to reach the end of the path. If the party played along with Balthazar, he will appear with the party as he has plans for Dame Aylin too.
Do not allow Balthazar to take the Nightsong, as this will prevent you from getting any legendary weapon and cause Shadowheart to permanently leave the party.
If you beat Balthazar in , Shadowheart will confront the Nightsong. If you find the Spear of Night and tell Shadowheart to finish the ritual, she will sacrifice Dame Aylin and become a Dark Justiciar. This will reward you with Shar's Spear of Evening, a +3 Legendary versatile spear with incredible aspects.
