The Golden Hippopotamus in is a minor boss but a challenging enemy nonetheless. Found guarding the Legacy Dungeon of the Shadow Keep, you will need to defeat the beast in order to gain access to the rest of the area. The great boss also comes in two phases, so prepare heavily for this fight. Two or three swipes from its jaws will leave you badly hurt and close to death even with high vigor at a character's soft and hard level caps.
Towering above the player with its giant jaws in the DLC, the Golden Hippopotamus is reminiscent of a hippo mixed with a rhinoceros. Surprisingly, it also has a long cat-like tail and patches of fur around its body, making it even more peculiar about what exact animal it is. During its second phase of attacks, the Golden Hippo shows off its name by sprouting golden spines all over its back, making it look like a golden porcupine. These spines are dangerous and will be shot off the hippo's body to deal damage to you as an AoE attack.
The menacing Putrescent Knight in Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree is a legend of a boss fight that takes patience with many dodges to win.
