Occasionally, in there is a feature that players don't know about, but this one is different. The game has multiple farm layouts that all serve different purposes. Players might choose to opt for the Wilderness farm if they're in search of combat at night, while those that enjoy fishing can happily take residence on the Riverland or Beach farm. No matter the farm type that's chosen, all farms will have a certain number of bushes. These bushes yield berries at specific times in certain seasons.
While the berries can be a quick trick to restore energy while gaining Foraging experience, sometimes they're on tiles that are important. Maybe there's a perfect spot for a coop or barn at the corner of the farm, but there's a single berry bush obstructing any potential for a building. It turns out that there's something that can be done about the bushes, a feature that a good portion of the player base is seemingly unaware of.
Reddit user shsl_izzy uploaded a video destroying the berry bushes and other smaller bushes on the farm. They used a Golden Axe to demolish the bushes and clear up more free space around a cabin. While this isn't a new feature, and some players have been well aware of this feature for a while, the comments on the original post include users mentioning that they had no idea this was possible. Players can only remove these shrubs on the Riverland and Forest farm maps, and will need a Copper Axe at the very least. The Steel Axe is needed to enter the Secret Woods in the west of Cindersap Forest. Players can obtain axe upgrades at Clint's house. First to Copper, then to Steel. These ores can be obtained in the mines in 's first in-game year. Upgrading an axe takes two days, as long as there aren't any festivals occurring within that window.
