Fortnite is adding a new Battle Royale mode called the "Reload," featuring a unique competition mechanism while showing some resemblance to the iconic "Team Rumble" mode.
It has been a long time since we have seen a new mode surface, but this time, Epic Games decided to switch things up by creating a shorter version of the original Battle Royale mode, with a confined player count (up to 40 players) along with a tightened map to increase the competitiveness among the gamers on the field. Here's how Epic Games describes the new mode:
Squaddies reboot in Fortnite Reload, so long as one member of the team remains. Reload is a 40-player experience on a tighter map featuring familiar locations like Tilted Towers and Retail Row. A full team wipe means Game Over! Whether you choose Battle Royale or Zero Build, the last squad standing wins.
So, players can respawn countless times with the newer mode unless there is a teammate on the field, similar to what Team Rumble had, except that the OG mode had a score-based implementation. While Team Rumble isn't back, old players can still relate to the newest "Reload" experience.
Epic Games detailed the reboot method. When a teammate dies, a reboot countdown automatically triggers. It begins at 30 seconds and scales up to 40 seconds as the game ends. Fortnite players can start the reboot countdown immediately after getting knocked down instead of waiting for revival.
Interestingly, Epic Games has decided to drop in many unvaulted loot items with the new Reload mode to increase user interest and give that iconic feeling. The items returning at launch include the Revolver, Tactical Shotgun, Heavy Assault Rifle, and many more. Since it is a trim-down version of the original BR mode, Reload will include Victory Crowns along with respawn items such as the Assault Rifle and 100 wood, while upon eliminations, players would drop Small Shield
