With returning to PlayStation Plus this week, there's one extremely simple tip all new players picking up the game for the first time should know. Rockstar's Western prequel is often heralded as one of the best games of all time, with some of the best storytelling to come from the studio, combined with an immersive open world version of a fictionalized America.
As with many of Rockstar's games, most notably the series, there's plenty to see and do across the map outside of just following protagonist Arthur Morgan's main story. These activities include hunting, gathering, collecting bounties and more, with a wealth of interesting characters asking Arthur for help and unlocking several side missions with varying rewards.

Because of how regularly Arthur finds himself involved in a new activity or a random event, players should take advantage of manual saves as they play through . There is an autosave feature, but outside of the main story, this isn't as regular as some players might expect, which has been a point of contention among the community. 's random events can go from common encounters through to rare moments involving aliens, ghost trains, serial killers, vampires and more. Therefore, considering some of the rewards that come from completing some of these less frequent ventures, it can be frustrating if players haven't saved and have to go and repeat larger chunks of the game to get them again.
There's long been a running joke within the gaming community about some players being overly paranoid about their saves, making sure that there's a manual save even after seeing an autosave icon just in case, but with getting in the routine of saving regularly pays off.
