The insider who originally reported that a Kingdom Hearts movie is in the works has now suggested that it's going to be a mix of live-action and CGI, which is exactly what fans didn't want.
Kingdom Hearts fans must feel like they all collectively made a wish on a monkey's paw. After spending the last few months begging for any kind of news on Kingdom Hearts 4 or even Missing Link, we've mostly been met with silence from Square Enix. Then, out of nowhere, a rumour that began in 2020 started making the rounds again, and it's not what fans were hoping for.
That rumour is that a Kingdom Hearts adaptation of some kind is currently in the works at Disney. Over on Twitter, the original insider who reported that a Kingdom Hearts adaptation was in development, DanielRPK, posted an update on the movie and suggested that it's going to mix live-action with CGI. It's not clear what parts of the movie are going to be CGI and what's going to be live-action, but I'm begging Disney to back away from making Sora, Riku, and Kairi into actual people.
Here's hoping that the live-action parts of the movie are just for some of the Disney characters that animated versions of Sora, Donald, and Goofy run into.
As you can probably imagine, this is exactly what a lot of fans were worried about, which has resulted in some very mixed opinions being shared
