Cross-platform military shooter title War Thunder is bringing a thunderous update this June. It’s a major content update with new aircraft, missiles and more military hardware from all over the world. It’ll also bring along some fresh features.
The War Thunder update is bringing medium-range air-to-air missiles with active radar guidance, aka, FOX-3. These missiles operate on their own with no need for constant target illumination. But if you’re firing from a distance, it’s best to keep an eye on your target in TWS mode for those radio corrections.
The missiles making their debut in War Thunder include the American AIM-120, Japanese AAM-4, Russian R-77, French MICA, Israeli Derby, South African R-Darter and Chinese PL-12. One of the coolest carriers for these missiles will be the Su-27SM.
There’s also a whole new range of vehicles in War Thunder from Belgium and the Netherlands. Yep, Belgian and Dutch aviation is joining the party as a new Benelux branch in the French tech tree. From the classic Gladiator Mk I to the modern F-16AM Block 15 MLU, there are a ton of new toys to play with.
On the ground, you’ll get the Canadian Leopard 2A4 MBT with additional composite armour, an advanced thermal image, and the ability to add anti-cumulative screens and a masking net. If naval battles are more your thing, the Kondor II minesweeper from the GDR fleet is here. It’s armed to the teeth with three twin 25 mm autocannons and a FASTA 4M2 launcher with Strela-2M anti-aircraft missiles.
For those not in the know, War Thunder is a free-to-play, cross-platform military game. Published and developed by Hungarian game studio Gaijin Entertainment, it has over 2000 vehicles spanning from the 1900s to the 2010s. Go ahead and check it out on the Google Play Store.
