Since unveiling the eye-watering $130 Ultimate Edition of Star Wars Outlaws last week, Ubisoft has been under fire from fans furious a full-priced single-player game would even warrant a Season Pass in the first place. Worse, acquiring the Season Pass is the only way to «play the exclusive Jabba's Gambit mission at launch».
Ubisoft has since issued a statement insisting that Jabba the Hutt and the notorious Hutt Cartel are one of the main syndicates and that players will definitely have dealings with the faction in the base game. However, Ubisoft suggests that if players want the optional, additional mission, perhaps a little extra face-time with the big guy, the Season Pass is right there. The mission description reads: «Just as Kay is putting together a crew for the Canto Bight heist, she receives a job from Jabba the Hutt himself. Turns out that ND-5 owes Jabba a debt from years ago, and he has come to collect.»
A Ubisoft spokesperson issued the missive to IGN, and it reads: «To clarify, Jabba the Hutt and the Hutt Cartel are one of the main syndicates in Star Wars Outlaws and will be part of the experience for everyone who purchases the game, regardless of edition. The Jabba's Gambit mission is an optional, additional mission with the Hutt Cartel along Kay and Nix's journey across the Outer Rim. This mission will be available to those who purchase the season pass or an edition of the game, including the season pass.»
Battle Pass vs. Season Pass confusion
We'll leave it to the players to decide whether that sounds like a deal worth taking, but it's hard to make an informed decision without knowing the scope of the mission in question. If you think Ubisoft is treating you unfairly, let us know in the comments section below.
