The long-delayed Star Wars: Hunters finally has a new release date. Back in 2021, Lucasfilm Games and developer Zynga announced Star Wars: Hunters, a squad-based arena shooter set after the fall of the Galactic Empire at the end of the original Star Wars movie trilogy. Players can choose from characters like Rieve, a dark-side-empowered warrior, a lightsaber-wielding droid called J-3DI, and even Utooni, a pair of junk-scavenging Jawas stacked together. Each of these characters has their own unique abilities, which will come in handy during frantic battles across several classic Star Wars locations.
While Star Wars: Hunters was soft-launched on Android devices in India, the Philippines, Malaysia, Taiwan, New Zealand, Australia, and Indonesia in late 2021, it would later be announced that Star Wars: Hunters' full release was delayed from its planned 2022 launch date for almost a year. Star Wars: Hunters would then be delayed a second time in 2023, leaving curious players wondering if the game would ever be released.
Good news has finally come from Nintendo of America, which recently announced that Star Wars: Hunters will launch for the Nintendo Switch on June 4, 2024. Pre-downloads for the game are now available on the Nintendo eShop, and those who play on the Switch when Star Wars: Hunters is finally released will have access to the exclusive «Shift Veteran costume and Shift Blaster wrap» cosmetics. A new Star Wars: Hunters trailer was also posted, featuring the game’s cast of combatants battling it out on the forest moon of Endor.
