Family Star OTT Release Date Announced
Vijay Deverakonda and Mrunal Thakur’s latest movie,, is all set for its digital debut. The film arrived in cinemas worldwide on April 5 but received mixed reviews. Its poor performance has widely affected its producers, noting the hefty amount they spent on the making. As a result, the movie is arriving in the OTT space early.
Family Star follows the story of a young man who goes the extra mile to keep his family safe. Despite being an ordinary man, he is always ready to fight goons for the sake of his family. Besides the comedy and drama, the movie also has plenty of romance between the characters of Vijay Deverakonda and Mrunal Thakur. Helmed by Parasuram, Gopi Sundar served as the movie’s music composer.
Unlike other Telugu movies, the makers of Family Star are not taking four weeks to launch it in the OTT space. The previous reports claimed the movie would arrive on the OTT platform on May 3. However, it was recently confirmed that the Vijay Deverakonda-starrer will be available to stream on by.
The possible reason behind the film’s early OTT release is its poor box office collection. As per a report by Koimoi.com, Family Star was made on a budget of about $5.9 million. However, it has only earned about $4 million gross globally so far. Therefore, the massive loss of producers might have led to the movie not following the four-week rule before its digital debut.
Family Star marked Vijay Deverakonda’s third consecutive outing that did not do very well. While his 2022 action drama Liger received poor reviews, his romance drama Kushi performed average. Fans had high expectations for the latest family drama, but it seemingly failed at the box office.
