We all know that an Animal Crossing and Pokemon crossover would absolutely slap, but Twitter artist SpicyBeefu has been making it a reality for months, imagining various Pokemon from across the series as villagers.
We've had plenty of unique Pokemon titles in the past, spanning different genres from MOBAs all the way to fighting games. We're yet to see a proper Pokemon game that focuses on the cozier side of the franchise though, which was lovingly portrayed in the recent Netflix series Pokemon Concierge. Animal Crossing seems like the perfect fit for the series, given that you inhabit an island full of talking animals, and it's pretty obvious that Twitter artist SpicyBeefu thinks so too.
Not content to just imagine a Pokemon/Animal Crossing crossover game, SpicyBeefu has been taking various 'mons and the Animal Crossing art style to create various animations of Pokemon performing various activities. With the help of reference art from fellow artists such as Omuart and Lemoncreamsicle we can see scenes including Wooper jumping in puddles, Flygon catching some bugs, and Vulpix on the way to the store. They've even imagined a scenario in which Cubone, the best Pokemon, goes fishing.
It's all incredibly adorable and an excellent recreation of that Animal Crossing DS style that we've seen from Nintendo. Some people are even claiming these little videos are making them upset, knowing full well that an actual game being developed like this by Nintendo or anyone else is pretty unlikely.
Still, when you have a fanbase as dedicated as Pokemon's, anything can happen. SpicyBeefu has already explained that while these are just animation made in Blender at the moment, they are thinking about releasing the models for these Pokemon to the public for people to do whatever they want with them, so it's possible one talented individual out there could make a fan game in the future. If Nintendo wanted to print money though, it would get on this as soon as possible.
