Overwatch 2 Devs Discusses Changes Coming To The Game

The latest event to come to Overwatch 2 launched this weekend only, where players got a taste of fast paced matches that upped the ante for new and old players alike. The developers have released a Directors Take , discussing their plans for the future and how fans have responded to the latest test event. 

Overwatch 2 is a team-based FPS that really puts emphasis on players working together in order to defeat the opposing team. One of the major issues with that is balance and the ability of each player to not only know their role, but know their Hero in and out to ensure the success of the team. 

Relying on the team to come together can be both extremely rewarding and inherently frustrating, as most players of Overwatch 2 know by now. The developers noted that there will be a new feature to allow team members to self heal passively in order to keep themselves alive in the heat of battle. Some fans may be familiar with this trait already, as healers within the game already have this passive ability. 

The devs mention more changes that may be coming soon, mostly to help players who may have a bad team composition that isnt meshing well together. The changes already implemented are the Ping system, which allows players to show where an enemy may be or that they need healing quickly. Another feature was the Spawn Together system that spawns more players at once to combat the “one by one” trail of death as a singular player runs in alone to hold down the point. 

The Quickplay: Hacked event was an easy way for the devs to test out faster spawns, faster captiures and get player feedback on these new changes before making any decisions as to what changes will be permanent and which ones will only be kept for these events.
