New PS5 Update Makes Platinum Trophy Change
After a new firmware update, PlayStation 5 players will get a brand-new animation when they finally achieve the prized Platinum Trophy. Gaining a PS5 Platinum Trophy is always a special occasion, and this nice twist will make players even happier than before.
Trophies and similar achievements are a common reality for most gamers today, but they have not been around for such a long time. The Trophy system was originally launched back in 2008 for the PlayStation 3, and it did not even feature Platinum Trophies from the start. They only started to appear when Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune was launched, and originally looked like a pink crown with platinized metallic parts. Not all PS3 games had Trophy support, but starting in 2009, they became a mandatory feature, and soon the Platinum Trophy took its current shape.

This week, the PS5 player IBadDriverI shared a new discovery that the recent firmware update also brought a new animation that pops on the screen when gamers get the prized Platinum Trophy. While there are quite a few difficult PlayStation games with surprisingly easy Platinum Trophies, they all take effort and dedication to master.
The recent PlayStation 5 update brought more features than just a brand-new animation, though. Now, PS5 gamers will get access to the Discord voice chat feature directly from the console. While the integration is not complete and gamers still won’t get direct access to Discord while gaming, at least it offers a decent option for voice chat.
