Stormhaven Studios has shared a state of the game blog for Embers Adrift that includes an overview of the most recent content update and the new patch, The Forgotten Depths.
As an independent studio with a small team and a PVE-centric, classic-MMORPG inspired game, Stormhaven has plans for Embers Adrift, but also the realistic need for ongoing support. This blog comes after the team reduced the monthly subscription cost down to $9.99 after buying the base game for $29.99. One of the stated reasons that Embers Adrift does not have any microtransactions and follows this model is that it doesn’t pull any members off a small team that would otherwise be spending their time making new content. They reiterate this need and the desire to keep creating more content for the game and to expand upon everything.
This brings us to two different patches. The first,The Threat of Grimstone, was added recently, bringing the new level 30+ zone of Grimstone Canyon to the game. The zone will be added in stages, with the first part live now. The second phase will add higher altitude to the canyon and the third is currently planned to be a new zone.
Features in this update include eight new long-form quests that cover a bunch of level ranges, new abilities for all specializations, a series of new monsters, a merchant buyback system and a dice-based dueling system. Storage increases to your shared bank and personal stash. and other quality of life changes like social window UI improvements, and performance improvements were also added. Stormhaven has continued since launch to improve game issues and strengthen performance.
