2023 is shaping up to be a pretty good year for gaming, with so many different genres that will begin to appear for us all to play; from shooters, RPGs, open-world exploration games, and – what this list is all about – psychological horror games that will frighten the life out of you. This is a genre that has been hit and miss over the years, but when studios do get them right, they are – for the most part – equally terrifying and brilliant. There are a good few remakes heading our next year as well to keep an eye on as well as some original ideas, so here is a list of some anticipated upcoming psychological horror games for 2023.

Konami has left the Silent Hill franchise dormant for years. Fans were waiting for the IP to get picked back up, and fortunately, after a series of rumors, Konami unveiled the franchise was returning in a big way. One of the games to bring the franchise back into the limelight was a remake of Silent Hill 2. With the game installment being so cherished by fans of the series and a staple for the survival horror genre, it will be a difficult task to ensure the game meets fan expectations, but Bloober Team is taking on the challenge. Within Silent Hill 2, we’re following a man named James Sunderland, who ventures to the town of Silent Hill in hopes of finding his long-believed deceased wife, Mary. However, James soon realizes the town is far from a safe haven retreat.
