Earlier this year, Nintendo confirmed via the Switch eShop page for The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom that the open world game would require 18.2 GB of storage space, making it the biggest first party Switch game to date by quite some margin.
Ahead of the game’s imminent release, the Japanese publisher has now updated its page, lowering its storage requirements and shedding a couple of gigs in the process. As per the game’s updated eShop page, it will now require 16 GB of free storage space.
Of course, that still means that Tears of the Kingdom has the biggest file size for a first party Switch game to date, and it still exceeds the size of Breath of the Wild (which stands at 14.4 GB), and by Switch standards, 16 GB is still quite hefty- though of course, beyond the Switch, it is dwarfed by game sizes on PC and consoles.
The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom launches on May 12.
