In recent years, there’s been an increased focus on accessibility options in the AAA game space, and the upcoming Star Wars Jedi: Survivor is no exception. In fact, it seems like Respawn is pushing accessibility harder than almost any other developer (with the possible exception of Naughty Dog).
Star Wars Jedi: Survivor will offer a full range of difficulty options (Story Mode, Jedi Padawan, Jedi Knight, Jedi Master, and Jedi Grand Master) as well as the ability to fine-tune your experience in a more granular way. Perhaps the most innovative accessibility feature Respawn is bringing to the table is Slow Mode, which is pretty much exactly what it sounds like – the ability to play the game in slow motion, with players deciding how much they want time to be dilated. This will apply to combat, platforming, and everything else you do in the game.
Here's a quick rundown of some of the other options Star Wars Jedi: Survivor offers, including full controller remapping, HUD scaling, and more.
As always, there will be those who bemoan these options, but you’re free to ignore them if you please. Also, there are plenty of features being offered that will be of use to general audiences. Some minor vision problems aside, I wouldn’t consider myself a disabled gamer, but stuff like controller mapping, HUD scaling, field of view options, and that all-important motion-sickness-defeating dot are important to me. I wager you’ll find things that are handy to you if you delve in as well.
Star Wars Jedi: Survivor launches on PC, Xbox Series X/S, and PS5 on April 28. Here’s everything you need to know about the game.
