A new The Last of Us Part 1 PC patch will be deployed later today, Naughty Dog has confirmed. In addition to today's patch, another patch will be released this Friday.
The arrival of these much-needed patches for the PC port was announced through the official Naughty Dog Twitter account some hours ago. Aside from announcing these new patches, the exact contents haven't been shared yet, although it's likely that both will address some of the rather troublesome issues with the PC version. Although some patches have already somewhat improved the gameplay experience, Naughty Dog has yet to address the apparent long shader loading times, various instability problems, boot issues, mouse and camera jitter, and a reported memory leak issue.
"We will share patch notes when the hotfix is live, and let you know some of what to expect in Friday's patch ahead of its launch", the developer writes on Twitter about today's hotfix and the planned patch for this Friday.
On Twitter, Naughty Dog also said that the team is currently prioritizing releasing patches as well as fixes for the PC version over improving the title on Steam Deck. As such, those hoping to play this PC port on Valve's handheld decently will have to wait a bit. "While we know many of you would like to play The Last of Us Part I on Steam Deck, we are prioritizing fixes and patches before submitting it for verification", Naughty Dog wrote on Twitter. The team added, "We will keep you updated of its Steam Deck status as we continue to improve the PC version."
