Former Blizzard Entertainment and Riot Games developer Greg Street has announced his intent to start a new remote games development studio! Better known as Ghostcrawler, the former World of Warcraft Lead Systems Designer cited a combination of personal loss and professional considerations when he unexpectedly announced his departure from Riot Games last month, where he served as Executive Producer of their League of Legends MMO project. Although not ready to reveal the new studio's name or any specific game details yet, Street did share that he had secured a strategic partner and that their project would be MMO or something very MMO-like — information that his fans should certainly be pleased to hear.
Over the course of his career, the marine biologist has established a major games development pedigree, from Lead Designer on Age of Empires III, to Lead Systems Designer on World of Warcraft, Design Director on League of Legends, Executive Producer of Riot's unannounced MMO, and various design roles on several other games and expansions in between. Known for his open relationship with the WoW community during Wrath of the Lich King and Cataclysm beta test periods, Street became commonly recognized as the «voice» of Blizzard during his time on the development team — frequently responding directly to player feedback on the forums, Reddit, or Twitter during a time in which it was uncommon to hear from developers outside of curated press releases or interviews.
