Microbird Games has today revealed it's bringing Dungeons of Hinterberg to PS5 next month following its original Xbox Series X|S, PC launch last year. Scheduled in for 13th March 2025, the release brings the base game to PS5 along with a newly announced update that includes a «new, secret bonus episode». There is not a new trailer to accompany the news, but you can see the game in action above.
Dungeons of Hinterberg is a mixture of dungeon crawling (mostly combat, exploration) and Persona-esque relationship-making out in the Austrian alps. «Players can explore different biomes, solve puzzles, slay huge bosses — then have a Schnitzel with the locals and other slayers from around the globe,» a press release explains. «Building deep relationships can unlock special abilities and gameplay systems or give players key items, helping them find their way through a daunting dungeon.»
Upon its original launch, the game garnered a Metacritic rating of 81 for the Xbox Series X|S version. Our sister site Pure Xbox wasn't quite as hot on it as others in a 7/10 rated review, but still found room to praise its colourful visuals and gameplay mechanics.
«Dungeons of Hinterberg is a hugely stylish and hipster-cool action-RPG that does a fantastic job in building a world that feels worth exploring, replete with dungeons that require effort whilst remaining fittingly chilled out,» reads the conclusion. «This is a puzzle-orientated affair more than an action-heavy thing, and that's a wise choice, as the puzzles here easily trump the fairly average fighting.»

Liam grew up with a PlayStation controller in his hands and a love for Metal Gear Solid. Nowadays, he's found playing the latest and greatest PS5 games as well as supporting Derby County. That last detail is his downfall.
Nice! Played the «demo» on PC, but I prefer to play it on my TV. I'll wait for it to dip to around €20 though.
