Capcom has revealed it's releasing a remaster of PS2 classic Onimusha 2: Samurai's Destiny later this year for PS4. As it prepares for new mainline game Onimusha: Way of the Sword, the firm is returning to its remastering efforts, which it began six years ago with an updated Onimusha: Warlords release.
As the footage in the trailer above shares, this looks to be a fairly simple remaster project that simply brings back the original game in that same form with better visuals. It's releasing for PS4 later on in 2025, and will be available to play on PS5 via backwards compatibility.
Released for the PS2 in 2002, the follow-up introduced a new protagonist and expanded on the original's gameplay with extra mechanics and features. Will you check out Onimusha 2: Samurai's Destiny for the first time via this PS4 remaster, or are you a returning veteran? Let us know in the comments below.

I wonder what took them so long? I thought the sales were softer than they'd like and they chose not to bother (particularly with actor likenesses), but obviously not with the new game.
Really happy about this actually, I only ever got to play the original back on PS2 and lost interest in gaming fora while not long after. Picked up the remaster of the original a couple of years ago and will definitely be picking this one up
