First spotted by a ResetEra user, 's PlayStation Store page was abruptly changed early this morning to reveal a release date of August 28, 2025. This came along with a new trailer, which allegedly revealed further details about the upcoming remake, providing a rundown of the game's iconic bosses, while The Boss narrates a basic summary of its story. The updated PSN page also apparently revealed that the crossover content from the original game will likely be preserved in the remake, maintaining the game's occasionally irreverent tone.
This may have been an accidental leak: is hotly anticipated, both by longtime fans of the franchise and prospective first-time players. It seems odd, to say the least, for its release date to appear suddenly on the PlayStation Store with zero fanfare or direct statement from Konami (or the other platforms the game is scheduled to be released on). There's also the speed with which the details were removed from the store page, which seems to suggest we weren't supposed to see them.
