The release date for Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater has been set for 28th August 2025 – 25th for the Deluxe Edition with early access – the game remake coming to PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC.
The trailer – viewable here – also teased an Ape Escape tie-in, just like with the original release of Metal Gear Solid 3!
The leak comes by way of the PlayStation Store updating with the release date on the listing, and a release date trailer being uploaded there as well. Does that count as a leak? Well, I’d say so when there’s no PS Blog post alongside, no similar updates to Xbox or Steam, and no formal trailer release on YouTube.
A Metal Gear game remake had long been rumoured before Metal Gear Delta: Snake Eater was eventually confirmed and announced back in May 2024. At the same time, Konami also confirmed a remastered Master Collection featuring Metal Gear Solid, Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty, and the original Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater. Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater remakes the PS2 classic in Unreal Engine 5.
We still don’t really know much about how the game is being updated, beyond the graphical overhaul, and how far Konami are going to modernise the game in terms of gameplay. We do know that Hideo Kojima’s name has been wiped from the title, though.
The story is as follows:

However, the mission ends in failure when Snake’s mentor—The Boss, a soldier known as the mother of special forces—betrays him, and Sokolov is captured by Colonel Volgin of the GRU.
One week later, Snake returns to the same Soviet territory to rescue Sokolov and eliminate The Boss—a mission that will mark the start of a new legend, amid the backdrop of an ever-changing scene, the game’s central theme.
This epic instalment tells the story of the birth of the hero known as Big Boss, the very start of the Metal Gear Saga.
