Developer Respawn Entertainment has opened a new studio. With this third development studio, the company hopes to try and make Apex Legends into a game that could last over a decade, describing it as a potential “10, 15 years or more” franchise.
The new studio is based out of Madison, Wisconsin, and is headed by by Ryan Burnett, who was formerly a diretor of engine production at Epic Games. The studio will be focusing on being a support studio for the development of Apex Legends.
Speaking with GamesIndustry.biz, Burnett has stated that the new studio is more of an expansion to Respawn’s core development team for Apex Legends rather than just a live-ops team.
A new studio that will largely revolve around live service development for Apex Legends comes on the heels of notable cancellations by EA earlier in the year where it shut down Apex Legends Mobile.
Alongside Apex Legends, Respawn Entertainment is also currently busy with the impending launch of Star Wars Jedi: Survivors, which got a new trailer earlier this week.
