True innovation in the first-person shooter genre is relatively rare, but it looks like the upcoming indie game Unrecord may be bringing something genuinely new to the table. The game is a tactical shooter, in which the action is shown from the perspective of a police bodycam. In addition to intense, grounded firefights, the game will actually feature some immersive sim elements, as you can talk to people, choose dialogue options that will lead to different story paths, and more.
But ultimately, it’s the game’s look that sets Unrecord apart. Powered by Unreal Engine 5, the game is impressive on a technical level. While you could screenshot any individual moment and say “yeah, that looks like a video game” in motion the combination of the impressive lighting, reflections, and unpredictable camera makes the game looking startlingly real.
