Long-awaited indie sequel Teslagrad 2 is out now, after Rain Games and Modus Games stealth released it for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PS4, Xbox One, Switch and PC today. It’s out now!
Building on the electric ‘Teslamancy’ metroidvania of the original, Teslagrad 2 promises a larger world to explore as new heroine Lumina ends up crash-landed by a mysterious abandoned tower. There’s a new Scandic inspiration to the world with the fjordside wildlands surrounding the tower inspired by Nordic folklore.
Within the tower, Lumina will uncover and use outlandish Teslamancy technology, feeding off magnetic rails for grinding and manipulating gravity, electric fields, teleporting and more.
First announced in 2020, Teslagrad 2 has been a long time coming, and there’s plenty who might have missed the original…. so they’ve also released a remaster! Teslagrad Remastered features updates visuals, light additions and refinements and even some new challenges to take on.
Looking back on the original 2013 release, I wrote in our Teslagrad review, “Teslagrad is a game with flaws, with the difficulty level and a fairly short length the two main offenders, but it’s also a charming title, and one which I enjoyed playing. Hopefully some of the kinks can be worked out, because the art style, music and non-verbal storytelling help it to stand out from the crowd. There’s a lot of variety and plenty of clever ideas in the gameplay which combine to make some great moments and puzzles within the game.“
