Mortal Kombat 2 producer Todd Garner offered fans a first look at one of the new cast members as a fan-favorite character from the video game series.
The first Mortal Kombat film of the rebooted continuity was released in 2021. While the filmgot a so-so reception, there was enough interest to warrant a second outing, which came to fruition when it was announced in July 2022 that a Mortal Kombat sequel was in the works, with Warner Bros. set to release it theatrically. With the SAG-AFTRA strikes resolved and the entire industry shifting back into gear, work on the sequel has picked up, with fans now getting some updates on what’s happening behind the scenes.
As the latest addition to a parade of on-set shots posted to his social media account on X,Mortal Kombat 2 producer Garner shared a low-res image featuring a close-up shot of actress Tati Gabrielle's face, giving fans the first official look at the star in her role as Jade, a character from the Mortal Kombat video game series. The upcoming sequel needs to do a lot to improve on 2021’s Mortal Kombat,and the additions made to the cast between films are a significant part of that improvement. The responses to the post were predictably excited, with many fans reiterating their praise for the casting decision to go with Gabriell for the role and others asking to see the entire costume before passing judgment.
