Minecraft seems to be on the way to getting an update to support modern features on current-gen consoles. As caught by VideoGamesChronicle, Minecraft was classified for release on Xbox Series X/S in Germany.
While current players have been able to play Minecraft on their current-gen platforms, this has been possible thanks to the Xbox Series X/S supporting backwards compatibility, allowing players to play the Xbox One version of the game.
Mojang itself has been quiet about the current-gen update for Minecraft, so we don’t really know what kind of features we can expect the game to make use of. One new feature that will undoubtedly get used is the shortening of load times or even world creation times thanks to the more powerful computing power on the Xbox Series X/S, as well as the presence of faster SSD storage on the new consoles.
It is also currently unknown whether we’ll see a similar update for the PS4 version of the game, giving Minecraft a proper PS5 release.
