We never thought we'd hear Lily the Pink in a game trailer, but here we are in 2023, on the strangest timeline. Thank Goodness You're Here! has just made its debut at Gamescom, and it looks ridiculous.
You play as a little yellow man who's arrived early for his meeting with the mayor of a northern English town called Barnsworth. This 2D adventure game is all about what he gets up to while he's waiting for his appointment, and in a nutshell, he meets the locals and gets given increasingly absurd jobs to complete.
As you might be able to glean from the trailer, the tone is unapologetically silly, and we're here for it. There are a lot of quick cuts that hint at some of the bizarre situations you'll find yourself in. As you complete jobs, the town will open up more to you and allow you to explore further and meet more residents.
Published by Panic and developed by indie dev Coal Supper, the game is heading to PS5 sometime next year. Is Thank Goodness You're Here! now on your radar? Drink a drink a drink in the comments section below.
Having grown up alongside PlayStation, Stephen has developed an eclectic taste in video games and a wide knowledge of the medium, from small indie gems to the biggest AAA blockbusters. Ever hopeful that the Burnout series makes a miraculous return.
Best thing at gamescom for me. Love the style & setting, need a balance from po-faced ultra-violence.

This was the highlight of the show for me, has hints of the game Horace if anyones played it, a fun game in 2023 who would've thought
