Destiny 2’s Season Of Defiance is the gift that just keeps on giving. New weapons are pouring out of every crevice, and that means we also get to get our hands on some new Ritual Weapons – more specifically, a swanky new Void Glaive, the Ecliptic Distaff.
Rocking a great set of perks, a fairly sweet visual style, and the unique-to-this-Glaive roll of Destabilising Rounds, the Ecliptic Distaff is a lot of fun to mess around with. Even more so if you are a fan of melee in Destiny 2, which we certainly are. That, or explosion (we love those too to be fair).

Most weapons in Destiny 2 have the unfortunate fate of being randomised. By this we mean each weapon tends to have a pool of perks they can drop with, and it’s a dice roll as to whether or not you get something good. Considering the sheer number of Perks in Destiny 2, getting the ‘perfect roll’ is incredibly difficult and time-consuming.
However, there is a class of weapons that bypass this randomisation, Ritual Weapons. Ritual Weapons are few and far between, but they come with preset Perks – often really good preset Perks. This makes them excellent weapons to pick and use because there is no mucking about. No-fuss weaponry is always a plus in a game filled to the brim with fuss.
The Ecliptic Distaff was added during the Season Of Defiance and can be obtained in 1 of 3 ways, although they are all fairly similar methods. In short, you need to up your Reputation in Vanguard, Crucible, or Gambit (or all 3 if you want some spares). Rank 16 will do it. It’s really that simple.
Unlocking this weapon is also required if you want to complete all of your Week 5
