A Destiny 2 clip provides a painful reminder of why Strand still requires Guardians to be aware of their environment. The Darkness subclass that arrived with the Lightfall expansion for Destiny 2 offers impressive mobility for players, but it will not necessarily save them from plummeting to their death.
Although Lightfall's disappointing campaign is arguably best summarized as a protracted introduction to Strand, the subclass itself is arguably one of the best additions to Destiny 2 in recent years. It seems to reaffirm the gaming myth that any game is improved by the inclusion of a grappling hook, granted to Guardians by default with Strand as a replacement for the traditional Grenade ability. The versatility of the Grapple ability means that it can be used defensively, to barrel directly into enemies, or just role-play as Spider-Man. However, Strand is not an automatic win button, as it certainly requires an appreciation for how movement operates in Destiny 2, and one of the most important aspects is being aware of the environment.

A video posted to Reddit by Zachthema5ter captured an almost perfect Strand maneuver that fell apart at the final moment. During Desperate Measures, the final mission of Lightfall's campaign, a Thresher is seen swooping in as the Guardian attempts to take out a couple of AA guns. Sensing an opportunity to look cool, they grapple onto the Thresher and begin to be dragged by it in midair. The Thresher laps around the arena as the Guardian continues to fly alongside it, and they almost succeed in reaching the second AA gun that needs to be destroyed.
