The weird, wonderful world of cosplay is vast and varied. Some cosplay is shockingly game-accurate, fooling fans into thinking they're looking at actual screenshots. Other cosplay takes its own liberties, but manages to capture familiar characters in new and refreshing ways.
And still other cosplay puts our favorite characters into completely foreign situations we never would've imagined them in, but manages to capture the essence of those characters so perfectly that we can't help but look on in awe. That's exactly what Reddit user Dat-Baka achieved with their recent cosplay photoshoot, in which they visited a laundromat dressed as Astarion after attending a convention. The photoshoot has garnered praise for its accuracy and creativity.
The shoot consists of five photos of Astarion in various situations around the laundromat: idly balancing a knife on his fingertips while he waits for the wash to finish, sticking his entire torso into the machine to retrieve a lost sock, glumly watching his clothes tumbling around a dryer, and finally, examining in dismay a still-bloodstained white shirt.
One NPC in Baldur's Gate 3's Gauntlet of Shar is fairly hidden, but has some interesting connections to the main plot and characters.
The cosplay is so stunningly accurate — not only to Astarion's visual appearance, but also to his personality, perfectly capturing his elvish haughtiness and ennui — that it's been widely praised by fans. One commenter, smeghead8806, suggested making it into a bigger series featuring Astarion performing mundane tasks — perhaps engaging in a little baking next.
