While there are a variety of useful tools in , some can be harder to obtain than others, one in particular is the Pickaxe. While the Pickaxe is by no means a vital tool early on in the game, as opposed to flippers or the snorkel, it is still something players should work on getting as soon as possible to avoid running into issues later.
The Pickaxe, once crafted, allows players to destroy obstructions in their way, most of which can be found in the mines and caves around the island. Since this isn’t an early-game item, it's only fitting that players would need to make some significant progress to unlock the associated quest.
To gain access to the necessary quest, Revive The Oasis, players will need to complete quite a few tasks. Firstly, you will need to slightly increase your friendship with Pompompurin and complete the quests, Dessert-ed Boat and Parched. This should only require reaching level 4 friendship with Pompompurin, and both of these quests are relatively easy; plus, the latter unlocks the soda machine.

If, for any reason, you still can't access either of these quests, open the quest tracker in your menu to see what's holding it up. On occasion, if a character is currently involved in another quest, this can prevent you from progressing even if you met all the requirements, until that resident is available again. So ensure that everyone involved is not stuck in the middle of something else that needs to be finished first. The quest tracker will specify what's holding them up, if applicable.
Once you've completed those quests, the more tedious task is reaching level 11 friendship with My Melody. Since only 3 gifts can be given per day and unlocking ultimate gifts in can take some time, this may take a couple of days to accomplish. Try to prioritize gifting the highest quality gift you can.
