Despite Microsoft’s silence on Fable since the trailer from last year, speculation on its release date has been going around quite a bit. A new rumour, courtesy of Spanish website Vandal, that indicates that Fable will no longer be an Xbox exclusive.
According to a report by Vandal, Fable is currently being developed for release on the PS5 and Nintendo Switch 2 as well, alongside its planned PC and Xbox Series X/S versions. While no release date has been figured out as of yet, development on the PS5 and Switch 2 versions has reportedly progressed far enough that it might come out as a multiplatform release on launch.
As is the case with all such rumours, it is best to take this one with a grain of salt as well. However, Vandal has, in the past, reliably reported on the Switch 2 before the console’s announcement, including the fact that it would feature magnetically-connected JoyCons.
Rumours from last year have indicated that Fable is slated for launch in Q4 of 2025. This puts the game’s potential release window somewhere between October and December this year.
Fable, ostensibly a reboot of the classic Xbox and Xbox 360 RPG series, is being developed by Playground Games. The game is believed to be an open-world RPG, and will feature comedic takes on classic myths and folklore, as its predecessors are famous for.
