In a recent interview, Hayden Christensen and Diego Luna revealed their shared passion for collecting props from their iconic Star Wars roles. Speaking with Variety, both actors expressed their deep connection to the franchise and the significance of these props in their lives.
Christensen, known for his portrayal of Anakin Skywalker in two Star Wars prequels--Attack of the Clones and Revenge of the Sith--as well as on Disney+'s Obi-Wan Kenobi, discussed his lifelong admiration for Star Wars. Being cast as Anakin Skywalker was a childhood dream come true.
«I mean, getting to swing a lightsaber is pretty awesome,» Christensen said. «I got to keep a couple of them. One from the prequels, and then I got to keep two lightsabers from the Obi-Wan show--one Darth Vader, and one Anakin, because they’re a little bit different.»
Luna, who plays Cassian Andor in Rogue One and later Andor, similarly enthused about his involvement in the franchise, and his appreciation to «have an input» on props and costumes, plus his character. The actor adds that it helped foster a sense of ownership and pride in his work. In response to Christensen sharing that he has a growing lightsaber collection, Luna shared that, «I got the jacket of the character. I really worked for that. I made jokes about it since day one. I was like, 'I just got this job because this jacket fits me. Clearly, it’s all about the jacket.'»
While production on Disney+'s Andor series might be on pause as the WGA strike continues, Luna and showrunner Tony Gilroy gave some input for Season 2, aiming for a 2024 release.
