The release date window for has been revealed. It was recently disclosed when fans can expect the Game of Thrones prequel series and other major HBO shows to premiere or return with more seasons.
A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms will debut on HBO and Warner Bros. Discovery’s in-house streaming service Max in late 2025.
JB Perrette, the global streaming head at Warner Bros. Discovery, reportedly said at a conference organized by Wells Fargo that the series would come out in the summer of 2025, but Variety clarified that it was a “fourth-quarter title,” which means that the release date window is from October to December 2025.
The news confirms earlier reports. In February, IGN and other outlets quoted Warner Bros. Discovery CEO David Zaslav stating that the show was in the pre-production stage and could debut in late 2025.
In August 2024, HBO debuted the first footage from the series as part of a sneak-peak package comprising clips from various upcoming and returning projects. The series is an adaptation of George R. R. Martin’s Tales of Dunk and Egg series of novellas, which currently consists of The Hedge Knight, The Sworn Sword, and The Mystery Knight. Set in the same universe as Game of Thrones and House of the Dragon, A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms reportedly takes place a century before GoT’s events. The story will follow the adventures of the knight Ser Duncan the Tall and his squire Egg across Westeros.
Additionally, its cast includes Peter Claffey as Dunk / Ser Duncan the Tall, Dexter Sol Ansell as Egg, Finn Bennett as Prince Aerion “Brightflame” Targaryen, Tanzyn Crawford as Tanselle, and Bertie Carvel as Prince Baelor “Breakspear” Targaryen.
Notably, at the Wells Fargo-hosted event, Perrette also announced that The White Lotus Season 3 would premiere in February 2025, The Last of Us Season 2 in spring 2025, Euphoria Season 3 in 2026, and the Harry Potter series in 2027.
